Administrative Power and the Law (for Student Unions)

We are running an admin law workshop for members and staff of student unions, mainly in Universities and Tertiary Institutions.  It’s a one-off specialist workshop, where you can discuss your Uni-related admin law issues!

Just one case in Queensland shows how tricky it can be to make administrative decisions relating to students.  I wrote about it on this website.  And later updated my thoughts here.  But sexual misconduct is just one issue of many.  Discussion and learning more on this topic will help all student representatives in unions and elsewhere.

Administrative Law can seem baffling, overly technical, or irrelevant.

It doesn’t have to be.

It’s true that there is a bit of thinking to do to get your head around administrative law.  Yet it is something many of us in government or regulatory environments simply must grapple with.

Spend a day doing our admin law course, and see what a difference it makes.  For a few, it is a refresher, with a new approach that they simply hadn’t thought of before.  But for many, this course is a revelation.

The course gives you practical insight into how you can do your work better by understanding the impact of administrative law on what you do.

We don’t just give you a whole lot of rules.  We don’t just refer to High Court cases in a hypothetical vacuum.

The aim of this course is to give you not just insight, but a proper framework that you can actually use.  If you have a better idea about what you have to do, your confidence will improve, and your enjoyment of your work will increase also.
